Quail Creek Ranch is located in North Central Idaho, 40 miles northeast of Lewiston, Idaho. Here in our country a great dog is one of the most valuable assets anyone can have. You need a dog who can think on it’s own, track and act quickly and safely as needed to move and locate cattle or sheep. A dog that is quiet and built to hold up to long days and rough country. Our border collie pups are registered with the American Kennel Club and the American Border Collie Association. As members of these associations we believe raising registered Border Collies gives you a proven starting place for a pup and it’s heritage. Pedigrees that are proven and trusted mean a lot. We strive for excellent conformation and quiet pleasing temperaments. All our breeding dogs are O.F.A. certified also.

Quail Creek Ranch border collies are proven working and agility dogs. Our border collie puppies come from working parents and our pups from these dogs are doing the jobs they were bred for. We have pups that we have sold working cattle, sheep and doing a superior job at agility and obedience classes. Our best advertisement has been from referrals. People who have purchased puppies from these dogs and us have lived up to what they expected and more.

Rio Run Gill – Tri/colored Male – Gill is the sire of our puppies. His disposition and working ability truly has been passed on to his pups. We couldn’t be more pleased with what a superior dog Gill has become. He is an easy going, gentle dog with a true desire to please and work when needed. He has a exceptional tracking ability when it comes to finding cattle out on the range, he runs about 100% most all of the time! This dog has good bone and great conformation. He works and gathers cattle and sheep with a strong gentle nature.

His dam is Meg ISDS 219825 she came over from Wales bred to Mirk ISDS 164457 who was International Stock Dog Champion two years in a row. Gill is registered with the American Border Collie Association and with The American Kennel Club. He is also O.F.A. certified. Chic (additional pictures) – Black and White Female- Chic is the dam of our puppies. She is a terrific heading dog with a lot of strength for her size. She is very quick and agile and she passes this on to her pups. Chic is a real people lover and is adamant about pleasing us. She has worked both cattle and sheep and is quiet and quick when needed. Chic is an excellent Mom as you can see and passes on lots of good qualities to her pups.

Her dam is Ebony Rose D1609581/02 and her sire is Brew II D172118/01 both are wonderful proven working dogs that have produced stock working dogs and great agility dogs. Red Top Libby – “Libby” is an awesome dog that helps us with gathering cattle and has helped with sheep too. She is a quiet easy going dog that only wants to please. Her temperament is very happy and she has never met a stranger. She loves being around people. Libby is a black and white medium coated dog with lots of freckles to add personality.

Libby is sired by Red Top Riggs co-owned by Patrick Shannahan and Diane Deal. Riggs is a young dog that’s made a great name for himself. Riggs was named Reserve Champion Nursery Dog at the 2005 National Finals, and was also a member of the team representing the USA at the World Sheepdog Trials in Tullamore, Ireland.

Libby’s dam is Red Top Jen owned by Patrick Shannahan. She is shown in Open classes at the Sheepdog Trials and has raised some wonderful working dogs.

We have had a number of litters from this cross and are very pleased and proud of the results. They have produced dogs that can be companions, working dogs, agility dogs or just great family members! Their dispositions and learning abilities are the best. We have received lots of great feedback from puppy owners.
